A journey through 4 centuries of the history of the port and shipping in Dunkirk

Dive into the heart of Dunkirk’s maritime history!

From Iceland to Cape Horn, via the coasts of Africa and Asia, the Maritime and Port Museum invites you on an extraordinary journey through almost 4 centuries.
Housed in a former 19th-century tobacco warehouse in the heart of the historic Citadelle district, discover unique collections: ship models, paintings, figureheads, technical objects, panoramic paintings, dioramas…

Immerse yourself in the adventures of Jean Bart, the famous privateer from Dunkirk, share the daily life of Icelandic fishermen and board the Cape Horn sailboats. Take a tour of the museum’s floors and explore the trades of the sea through the spectacular technical gallery. Under the watchful eye of the giant Roge the docker, let yourself be captivated by the fascinating history of France’s 3rd largest port.
